I am not a chef, professional cook, or involved in detail good prep - I am just an ordinary guy, cooking in an ordinary kitchen. I have collected every kind and brand of kitchen knives you can imagine. Most came in "sets" and came from big box stores, or similar retailers. So... I am not a pro, but I do know good knives.This knife is awesome! It is absolutely razor sharp right out of the really nice gift box it came in. The blade is heavy, thick and beautiful to look at - Damascus steel has that quality!The handle is beautiful, and comfortable. The entire knife feels really well balanced!Cleaning, treating, and storing a knife like this is more than what I'm used to, but this quality of knife is worth the small effort it takes to maintain it, and take care of it.I know the price seems kinda high for an average person to pay, but the knife is really worth the price.
